Monday ~ April 16, 2012

So as the day began today I started thinking about the blog post from Saturday and how when I was in High School that I use to preach at our church. Then it dawned on me that I might still have an old VHS tape of it, sure enough I found it. So I slapped it in and started to watch it, well the sound was terrible matter of fact it didn't have sound unless you turned the T.V. up to like 90 and you still couldn't hear it that good. I did however catch that I start the passage in 1 Corinthians 15. So I grabbed my Bible and started my devotions there, yeah I turned off the video no fun when there's no sound. I did look good though I mean man I had hair at one time! Now below I did a little study on what I preached on that day. Well it was not exactly what I said then, because I was not quite knowledgeable of the passage. But I did find out something that was pretty awesome! Check it out...

1 Corinthians 15: 1-4
1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received , and wherein ye stand ;2By which also ye are saved , if ye keep in memory what I preachedunto you, unless ye have believed in vain.3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received , how thatChrist died for our sins according to the scriptures;4And that he was buried , and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

So I looked at this passage and started to read it. Sometimes I just can't contain myself when I read about what Christ has done for us. We just went through the Easter season of how Christ died on the cross, was buried and then rose again. But how many of us really take the time and study what those three things really mean? Lets take a look:

The Cross: Where Jesus hung, bled, cried out to God, nailed to wood and died. Why? Because he had your and my name on his mind! When He hung on that cross he was thinking of me and you, knowing he would have to go through that pain and suffering so that one day we would receive Him as our Savior. He knew that there was no other possible way for us to go to Heaven than to die upon the cross. Do you realize that Jesus in human form gave His life so that we can live? WOW!!!

Burial: Then Joseph came to Pilate and asked that his body be put into a tomb. Not only did he put him in there, but Joseph bought a sindon (a cloth of fine linen or silk of much value) instead of cheaper cloth ( Mark 15:46 ),and Nicodemus by a wonderful wealth of spices ( John 19:39 ). Only the best for The Best!

Resurrection: Then He arose! Not stolen away, as the chief priests hired the soldiers to say he was; nor removed to another place, as Mary Magdalene first thought, when she found him gone; but he was risen from the dead, by the power of his Father, and by his own power, as he had before said he should. AMEN!!

Now with all of that said I would like to shine a little light on what Mary, Peter and the others saw when they looked into the tomb. There where Jesus once did lay was the cloth that was wrapped around him and the napkin that was upon his head as he laid there. ( John 20:6-7 ) But did you see the napkin was not with the other cloth...it was folded and put by itself on the side. Now you might be saying, okay what are you getting at. Well last week at the Life Group that we attend, Steve B. mentioned something about the napkin and what it meant. Well I was intrigued by what was said that I had to do some studying on it, this is what I found:

In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about Hebrew tradition of that day. The folded napkin had to do with the Master and Servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition.

When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he made sure that it was exactly the way the master wanted it. The table was furnished perfectly, and then the servant would wait, just out of sight, until the master had finished eating, and the servant would not dare touch that table, until the master was finished. Now if the master was done eating, he would rise from the table, wipe his fingers, his mouth, and clean his beard, and would wad up that napkin and toss it onto the table. The servant would then know to clear the table. For in those days, the wadded napkin meant, 'I'm done'. But if the master got up from the table, and folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because..........
The folded napkin meant, 'I'm coming back!'

SO therefore the folded napkin in the tomb meant He is Coming Back!

I'm sorry but that right there Ladies and Gentleman makes me excited!!!!

I pray that today you will spread the greatness and holiness of His name.

God Bless!!
